LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Smooth Skin. Long-Lasting Hair Reduction

Tired of constantly shaving, waxing or dealing with unwanted hair?

At Anubis, we offer professional laser hair removal designed to provide long-term reduction in unwanted hair, leaving skin feeling smoother with less need for regular shaving or waxing.

Every treatment begins with a consultation so we can assess your skin and hair, discuss the areas you'd like treated and create a treatment plan specifically for you.

Whether you're treating one small area or several areas together, we'll make the process straightforward, professional and comfortable.

HOW DOES LASER HAIR REMOVAL WORK?

Laser hair removal works by delivering controlled light energy to the pigment (melanin) within the hair.

This energy is converted into heat and targets the hair follicle, helping to reduce its ability to produce new hair.

Because hair grows in different stages, only hairs in the active growth phase are effectively targeted during each treatment. This is why a course of treatments is required rather than a single session.

Over the course, you should gradually notice:

Less hair growth
Finer and softer regrowth
Slower regrowth
Smoother skin
Less need for shaving or waxing

Results vary between individuals and permanent removal of every hair cannot be guaranteed.

WHY DO I NEED MORE THAN ONE SESSION?

Your hairs aren't all growing at the same time.

They move through different stages of a natural growth cycle, and laser treatment is most effective when the hair is in its active growth phase.

At any one appointment, only a proportion of the hairs will be at the ideal stage for treatment.

By repeating your treatments at the recommended intervals, we can target different hairs as they enter their active growth phase.

For this reason, we recommend committing to a course rather than expecting a one-off treatment to remove all unwanted hair.

YOUR CONSULTATION & PATCH TEST

Before beginning your treatment course, we'll carry out a consultation and suitability assessment.

We'll discuss:

The areas you'd like treated
Your hair colour and thickness
Your skin type
Previous hair-removal methods
Your medical history
Medication
Previous laser/IPL treatments
Your expectations

A patch test will also be carried out where required before your first full treatment.

This allows us to assess how your skin responds and helps us select appropriate treatment settings.

Please tell us about any medication or changes to your health, even if you don't think they're relevant.

IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL SUITABLE FOR EVERYONE?

Not necessarily.

Hair-removal technology works by targeting pigment within the hair, which means results depend partly upon the colour and characteristics of the hair.

White, grey and very light blonde hairs contain little or no melanin and generally do not respond effectively to pigment-targeting hair removal.

Red and very fair hair may also respond poorly depending on the amount of pigment present.

We'll assess your hair during your consultation and be straightforward with you if we don't think you're likely to get worthwhile results.

BEFORE YOUR LASER HAIR REMOVAL APPOINTMENT

Preparation is important.

DO SHAVE

The treatment area should normally be shaved before your appointment, following the instructions we give you.

The hair beneath the skin needs to remain in place so the follicle can be targeted.

DON'T WAX, PLUCK OR EPILATE

Avoid methods that pull the hair out by the root during your treatment course.

This includes:

Waxing
Plucking/tweezing
Threading
Epilating

If the hair has been pulled from the follicle, there is less for the treatment to target.

AVOID TANNING

Avoid deliberate tanning, sunbeds and fake tan around your treatment appointments.

Please tell us if you've recently tanned or experienced sunburn.

ON THE DAY

Where possible, arrive with the treatment area clean and free from:

Deodorant
Perfume
Body lotion
Oil
Fake tan
Make-up

depending on the area being treated.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING TREATMENT?

We'll check the treatment area and confirm that nothing has changed since your consultation.

Protective eyewear will be provided where required.

The handpiece is then systematically passed across the treatment area using settings selected for you.

You may experience warmth or a brief snapping sensation during treatment.

How long your appointment takes depends on the area — a small facial area can be relatively quick, while legs or several combined areas naturally take longer.

AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

Some temporary redness, warmth or mild sensitivity around the follicles can be normal following treatment.

This usually settles relatively quickly.

The treated hairs don't necessarily disappear immediately. Some may appear to continue growing before gradually shedding from the follicles over the following days.

Don't pluck them out.

Allow the treated hairs to shed naturally.

LASER HAIR REMOVAL AFTERCARE

For the first 24–48 hours, treat the skin gently.

Avoid:

Hot baths and very hot showers
Saunas and steam rooms
Intense exercise/excessive sweating
Swimming
Perfumed or strongly fragranced products
Harsh exfoliation
Scrubs, acids and active skincare on the area

Avoid scratching or rubbing the treated skin.

If the area feels warm, a cool compress can be used for comfort.

Once the skin has settled, you can return to your usual skincare gradually.

SUN EXPOSURE

Protecting your skin from UV exposure is particularly important during a laser treatment course.

Avoid deliberate tanning and sunbeds and follow the sun-exposure advice given by your practitioner.

For exposed treatment areas, use a high-SPF broad-spectrum sunscreen.

Always tell us if you've recently tanned or had significant sun exposure before your next appointment.

BETWEEN YOUR APPOINTMENTS

You can shave between treatments if necessary.

Don't wax, tweeze, thread or epilate the treatment area, as these methods remove the hair from the follicle.

As your course progresses, you should notice that you need to shave less frequently and that regrowth becomes finer or more sparse.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

This varies considerably from person to person.

Factors include:

Treatment area
Hair colour
Hair thickness
Skin type
Hair-growth cycle
Hormones
Age
Medication
Individual response

A course is normally required, followed by occasional maintenance treatments for some clients.

We'll assess your progress as your course continues rather than promising a particular result after a fixed number of treatments.

HORMONAL HAIR GROWTH

Some unwanted hair growth can be influenced by hormones.

This can be particularly relevant to facial hair.

Laser can still be helpful for suitable pigmented hair, but hormonal stimulation may mean that additional or maintenance treatments are required.

If you experience a sudden or unexplained increase in facial/body hair, it can also be sensible to discuss this with your GP.

WHEN SHOULD I CONTACT ANUBIS?

Please contact us if you experience an unexpected reaction or have any concerns following your treatment.

Seek appropriate medical advice if you experience significant blistering, burns, severe or increasing pain, extensive swelling, spreading redness or other signs of infection.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Most people describe the sensation as warmth or a brief snap against the skin. Sensitivity varies depending on the person and area being treated.

Will I be completely hair-free?

Laser hair removal is better described as long-term hair reduction. Excellent reduction can be achieved for suitable hair, but we don't promise permanent removal of every individual hair.

Can I shave between appointments?

Yes. Shaving is the preferred method of managing regrowth between sessions.

Can I wax between treatments?

No. Waxing, plucking, threading and epilating pull the hair from the follicle and can interfere with treatment.

Why isn't my hair falling out immediately?

This is normal. Treated hairs can take time to shed and may initially look as though they're still growing.

Can you treat blonde or grey hair?

White and grey hair lacks the pigment needed for pigment-targeting hair removal. Very blonde and red hair may also respond poorly. We'll assess your hair honestly at consultation.

Can I have treatment if I'm tanned?

This needs to be assessed before treatment. Tell us about recent sun exposure, sunbeds and fake tan rather than assuming it's safe to proceed.

Can I start with just one session?

You can discuss individual sessions with us, but hair removal is designed around a course of treatments because of the natural hair-growth cycle.

READY TO START?

Your first step is a consultation.

We'll assess your skin and hair, discuss what you'd like to achieve, explain the treatment process and put together a plan for you.

There's no pressure and no unrealistic promises — we'll tell you whether we think you're a suitable candidate before you commit to treatment
